A tile company’s local outpost is exiting Shockoe Bottom and moving west to Scott’s Addition.
Architessa, which sells residential and commercial stone and tile products, porcelain slabs and wood and vinyl flooring, plans to relocate its local showroom to a ground-floor retail space at the Soda Flats development at 2820 W. Broad St. this January.
The company said the new space will allow Architessa to take advantage of what it sees as an overall better location for its purposes compared to its current spot.
“As we evaluated the showroom’s performance and future potential, we saw an opportunity to move into a location that better supports our clients, our brand and our growth in the market. We were also looking for a space that offers stronger visibility, easier access and a better environment,” Architessa spokesperson Shanta Peru said in an email.
The company’s new showroom will be appointment-only and operate out of a nearly 1,800-square-foot space with Broad Street frontage.
John Jay Schwartz of The Man with Square Feet and Gareth Jones and Kaylin Farruggio of JLL represented the landlord in the lease negotiations. Soda Flats is owned by local real estate firm SNP Properties, which purchased the 89-unit mixed-used building for $17 million earlier this year.
Maryland-based Architessa has eight showrooms, including additional Virginia locations in Alexandria and Vienna.
While Architessa planted its flag with its first local brick-and-mortar showroom at 1726 E. Main St. in 2022, the company had been doing business with commercial customers in the region since 2014. Peru said the Shockoe Bottom location was closed “for the most part” as of last week, and slated to officially close in December ahead of the move to the new space.
